hey there, remember me?

It's been ages since I've posted, I know. Life has just gotten in the way. Gone are the quiet afternoons in small-town France, no-work Wednesdays and everything's closed Sundays when I had time to write. But the following news just can't go un-posted.

Thanks to all the work I've done with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Académie d'Amiens for the past two and a half years, I was voted Classen Teacher of the Year last fall. Because of that, I was honored at the NBA game a couple of weeks ago. After having courtside seats, I'm not sure I can settle for the nosebleed section anymore! But the biggest news of all... I was recently named Teacher of the Year for the entire Oklahoma City Public School District!

All this comes as we're counting down the days until our friends from the Lycée Robert de Luzarches arrive. When I saw them in Amiens in September, I promised them that if they could find a way to come this year, I'd do everything in my power to welcome them into our school. They'll be with us for two weeks in April, and my students and I are so excited. I can only hope that my TOY status will bring more good publicity for our partnership, and that I will be able to take my students for a similar immersion experience in the near future!
