progress...sort of

Kyle Arthur is the BEST best friend's husband on the face of the earth. He spent all day Saturday helping me with the crown molding. I had bought corner blocks to avoid as much mitering as possible, but there are two outside corners (the room isn't a square) and we were convinced that two intelligent people with master's degrees could figure out how to miter those two corners. Alas, we lost a couple of hours to this task, and in the end, went to Lowe's to buy outside corner blocks that made the job so much easier. It may take three more years for me to paint it, but at least the molding is finally up! I also spent about six hours in two days doing major yard work. Mowing, weed eating, pruning, chopping. I'm a bit sore, but finally feel like I've accomplished something.

Yesterday, I learned that you can't renew a driver's license more than six months before the expiration date. The ladies at the tag agency instructed me to go to the Department of Public Safety for help. Great. Like I have hours & hours to wait in line for that. I really don't have much choice though, because my license expires in February. It seems like every time I get something checked off my to-do list, I discover something else that must be done before I leave.

The day ended well, though. This is the first entry being typed on my new MacBook!! Michael K. and I went to the Apple store last night and did some major purchasing. It's going to take some getting used to, but I like it already. I got a free printer and a free iPod nano with my purchase. I've already sold the nano to Michael P., and am working on finding a home for the printer. After the Apple adventure, we had our "last supper" at Caffe Pranzo, our favorite restaurant, and then went back to my house to play with my new toy. Thank goodness for Michael, because without his mini-tutoring last night, I don't know if I would have been able to navigate this today.

Driver's license update: I learned that I can renew my DL through the mail. They'll issue me a "valid without photo or signature" license, which seems a little strange, but I would rather do that than wait in line at the DPS, especially without the guarantee that they won't be able to help me. Mark one more thing off my to-do list.
