A few weeks ago, I realized that I should probably check the level of the fioul used to heat the water and the house. Tired of being cold in August and September, I turned the heat on earlier than Nathalie probably would. It's a good thing I thought to check, because there wasn't a whole lot left in la cuve. Then I got worried because I had been warned not to let it get too low or it would get clogged, which is what happened to one of my colleagues yesterday.
Still traumatized by my call to the phone company in November, I decided to avoid that feeling and asked my friend Laurence if she'd help me order the fuel. I'm glad I did, because they asked her questions about the size of the tank and the age of the heater. Fortunately, she lived here before Nathalie, so she knew all of the answers.
I decided to order 1000 litres; that should last me for quite a while. The fuel guy arrived bright and early a couple of Wednesdays ago, and was here for less than 10 minutes - just long enough to fill up the tank and take my check for 800€. Crikey!
