first dinner guests

Bill and Susan Gouldy came to visit! Both retired teachers (Bill taught French and Susan taught Latin and French), they are in France on vacation. Susan's genealogy research brought them to northern France, and therefore close to my region. They came over last night and I learned that in 2 days, they've seen more of Picardy than I've seen in two months! Because I'd just arrived from Paris, they brought a "picnic dinner" - quite a selection of bread, meats, cheese and fruit. We toured the grounds around my house, and then settled in around the dinner table to catch up. It was fun to see people from home! They're off today to explore the region around Lille, where Susan's Huguenot ancestors originated, and then on to Bruges. But before they left, they must have stopped by my house again, because when I got home from school, there was an orchid, a selection of French magazines, and a nice card addressed to the Marquise of Picardie. Too cute! Bon voyage, Bill et Susan!
